What is Shoutcast Hosting?
Shoutcast Hosting is a way to stream to your Shoutcast online radio station to the internet. Allowing you to reach a worldwide audience with low cost compared to hosting the server yourself.
Shoutcast Hosting with Icyshout uses MP3 format just like you would use if you broadcasted from a home server.
What is a Shoutcast stream?
A Shoutcast stream is an internet broadcast very similar to a radio station broadcast. Shoutcast`s underlying technology for audio delivery is MPEG Layer 3, also known as MP3 technology.
The two main components of your station are your source(your PC) and the hosted server(hosted by icyshout).
Your Icyshout hosted Shoutcast Server has two main functions:
1) To allow connections from a source(your PC) to your hosted server. The source has the ability to connect to the server anywhere an internet connection is available.
2) To broadcast the audio content to listeners anywhere worldwide.
Why should I have a hosted Shoutcast Server?
Streaming Shoutcast radio is one of the fastest growing widely used method for broadcasting music and talk radio on the internet.
Now anyone can quickly and cost-effectively run their own radio station to promote their music or tune into their favorite genres of music. With our easy to use CentovaCast interface anyone with or without previous experience with stream broadcasting can get their internet radio station broadcasting to the world.
